Top 10 Superstars This Week

Top 10 Superstars of the week: June 29

This is where I rank the top 10 superstars who have made an Impact, had   victories or have gained momentum throughout the week on RAW and/or Smackdown. The top 10 are my own opinion. The List are as follows :

1. John Cena

The WWE Champion is no.1 this week after sending a strong message to the World's Strongest man on RAW, The question is, Can the champ overcome Mark Henry at Money In The Bank.

2. Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan proved on RAW that he is certainly NOT the weak link by making The Viper Randy Orton tap out in their rubber street fight match. Bryan seems to be gaining a lot of momentum going into the next PPV.

3. Sheamus

The Celtic Warrior has had an impressive week in WWE, He got the victory in a tag team match with Christian against Team Rhodes Scholars and then followed up with a Great win against Sandow in a Dublin Street Fight.

4. The Usos

The Usos have had one of the best weeks in their WWE tenure after securing the No.1 Contender spot for the Tag Team Championships, They also teamed with Christian to hand The Shield their second loss in WWE.

5. Christian

Captain Charisma has had an Impressive return to WWE, This week he has grabbed victories against Team Rhodes Scholars in a tag team match with Sheamus and a victory against the US Champion Dean Ambrose. He also gained a victory over The Shield with the Usos on Smackdown.

6. Mark Henry

The Worlds Strongest Man gave a powerful speech regarding WWE Champion John Cena, Henry looks determined to get his hands on his first WWE Championship.

7. Chris Jericho

Y2J will face Ryback at the Money In The Bank PPV but that didn't stop Jericho getting in Ryback's face when the two of them battled it out in the middle of the ring on Smackdown.

8. Randy Orton

After a devastating loss at the hands of Daniel Bryan in their street fight on RAW, The WWE'S Apex Predator gained some momentum going into Money In The Bank by defeating Kane on Smackdown.

9. CM Punk

The Straight Edge Sociopath was less than happy on RAW when he confronted Paul Heyman about Brock Lesnar's actions. Punk was not happy either when Curtis Axel helped him fend of The Prime Time Players.

10. Curtis Axel

The Intercontinental Champion came to CM Punk's aid on RAW which Punk was not happy about, This has led to a Tag Team match on next weeks RAW. It will be Axel and Punk vs The Prime Time Players. The question is, will the Paul Heyman Guys be able to Co-exist?

WWE Smackdown Review and Results- June 28th 2013 edition

Ziggler spoils Fiesta Del Rio, World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank participants announced.

Match 1: Sheamus vs Damien Sandow (Dublin Street Fight)

We kicked off Smackdown with a Dublin Street Fight between The Celtic Warrior and The Intellectual Savior Of The Masses. This was a good match which will hopefully settle the feud between the two of them going into the Money In The Bank PPV. All sorts of weapons were used throughout this match including green colored Kendo Sticks, Bar Taps, Kegs of beer and even a sack of potatoes! Sheamus had most of the offence throughout this match and as Sandow was being a sitting duck on a chair. The Celtic Warrior laid Sandow out cold with a Brogue Kick to win the match.

Result: Sheamus Wins

Miz TV with guest Paul Heyman:

Paul Heyman was reluctant to discuss any personal issues he has with CM Punk and Brock Lesnar so it wasn't a suprise that Curtis Axel made his way to the ring shortly after Miz TV had begun. The Miz claimed that when he defeats The Intercontinental Champion, Axel won't be so important to Heyman. Soon after the confrontation Axel immediately attcked Miz sending him to the canvas with a Neck Breaker.

Match 2: AJ vs Natalya (Non Title Match)

Before this match started Kaitlyn made her way to the entrance ramp dressed as AJ as she got revenge for The Divas Chmpion doing it to her on RAW. Kaitlyn trash talked about how AJ had been dating several WWE staff and Personnel, The match then got underway as Kailtyn began skipping round the ring distracting the Divas Champion which led to Natalya rolling up AJ for the win.

Result: Natalya wins

World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank Contract participants announced :

Teddy Long announced the Participants for the World Heavyweight Title Contract at Money In The Bank, The Participants are as follows :

*Cody Rhodes

*Damien Sandow

*Antonio Cesaro

*Jack Swagger

*Fandango

*Wade Barrett

*US Champion Dean Ambrose

Match 3: Randy Orton vs Kane

After he tapped out on RAW, Randy Orton was out for revenge on Smackdown when he faced Kane, Daniel bryan also came out to the ring but he was on commentary.

As the match turned into a slugfest, The action spilled out of the ring. As Kane was beginning to stir, Daniel Bryan tried to 'help' his former tag team partner back into the ring, But Kane fell victim to a RKO at the hands of The Viper. After the match Bryan headed up the ramp with a smirk on his face.

Result: Randy Orton wins

Match 4: Ryback vs Justin Gabriel

Despite suffering an apparent leg injury that resulted from his match against a determined Justin Gabriel, Ryback overcame his opponent with Shell Shocked. After the match Chris Jericho made his way to the ring and began mocking Ryback, Y2J got the WWE Universe chanting CRY-BACK. This then resulted in the two of them colliding in the middle of the ring which ultimately sent Ryback up the ramp.

Result: Ryback wins

Match 5: The Usos and Christian vs The Shield

This was a good six man tag team match that was fast paced and full of action. After carnage broke out outside the ring, Christian took advantage of a vulnerable Dean Ambrose and hit a huge Spear on the US Champion and gave The Shield only their second Clean loss as a Trio.

Result: Christian and The Usos win

Del Rio's Fiesta

The World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio Ended Smackdown with a Mexican Fiesta which included Balloons and a  mariachi band. After he spoke to the WWE Universe in Spanish, He broke a pinata, He then compared the Pinata to him attacking Ziggler at The Money In The Bank PPV next month. Ziggler who had heard enough, made his way to the ring causing chaos on the fiesta. He put Del Rio's personal Ring Announcer through a table and hit The World Champion with a Zig Zag. Feeling a celebration of his own was in order, the No. 1 contender joined the mariachi band with the broken instrument of destruction in hand – a true Fiesta del Ziggler!

This ended a decent episode of Smackdown, Some good segments and competent matches, I would score it a 7/10

Match 2: Team Rhodes Scholars vs Sheamus and Christian

This was a nice tag team match between these two, It was nice to see Christian team with Sheamus as they have good chemistry together. As Rhodes Scholars dominated most of the match,  Christian made the Hot Tag to Sheamus and he cleaned house with Sandow and Rhodes, Sheamus then managed to take advantage of a rare miscommunication between Rhodes Scholars to hit Cody with a Brogue Kick.

Result: Sheamus and Christian win

Match 3: Chris Jericho vs Alberto Del Rio (Non Title Match)

Great Match between Jericho and Del Rio, The turning point in the match was when Del Rio countered Jericho's Codebreaker which was then returned by Jericho when he Countered the Cross Arm Breaker into his Signature Walls Of Jericho. As Jericho Locked In the Walls, Alberto Del Rio was saved by Ricardo Rodriguez as Del Rio was disqualified.

As Del Rio and Rodriguez attacked Jericho, Former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler swarmed Del Rio with a flurry of attacks which then led to him hitting the Zig Zag on The Champ which was then followed by a Zig Zag on Jericho.

It was announced that Dolph Ziggler will face Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money In The Bank.

Promo Featuring WWE Champion John Cena

The WWE Champion was all business on RAW as he addressed the situation between him and Mark Henry. Match 5: Tons of Funk vs The Usos vs 3MB ( No1 contenders Match)

A quick Triple Threat Tag Team Match as The Usos picked up the victory, Setting up a match at Money In The Bank against The Tag Team Champions Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

Result: The Usos win

Promo Featuring Paul Heyman and CM Punk

Fantastic segment between two of the best on the mic, CM Punk had two orders of business 1: To tell Paul Heyman that he is coming for Brock Lesnar, and 2: Was Paul Heyman behind the Brock Lesnar attack? Punk also thanked Heyman for always believing in his ability as a WWE superstar and that he will always be a Paul Heayman Guy.

Heyman denied the allegations that he was behind the attack and that he would never do that to his Best Friend, They then had a friendly hug to end a great Promo.

Match 6: CM Punk vs Darren Young

Decent Match between Punk and Young, Darren Young gave Punk a good run for his money as he mounted a stiff challenge against The Second City Saint. Punk eventually made him tap out to the Anaconda Vise, Straight after the match Titus O'Neil unleashed an attack on Punk which led to Curtis Axel coming out to the ring and making the save. Punk was not impressed with Axel as Heyman tried to clear things up with Punk.

Result: CM Punk wins

The Participants are as follows: CM Punk, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan,       Christian, Sheamus, Kane, Rob Van Dam.

Mark Henry came out to discuss his actions from the previous RAW, Henry did not seem fazed at all as he claimed that we all had a tear in our eye because we thought he was retiring, He claimed that he was proud of fooling us all and that he will win at Money In The Bank.

Match 7: Randy Orton vs Daniel Bryan

This was by far the match of the night, The WWE Universe chose the stipulation which was a Street Fight. A back and forth match between the two as we seen Orton go through a Table and Bryan take several shots in the head with a chair. As Randy Orton Built up momentum he was primed and ready to strike with an RKO when Bryan reversed the move and locked in the YES! lock, Orton tried to wriggle his way towards the Kendo Stick but Bryan grabbed it and applied it over Orton's face which led to him tapping out. After the match Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan embraced with a handshake as RAW went off the air.

Result: Daniel Bryan Wins

Overall a very good show with some great segments, I would certainly score it a 8.5/10

Tensions boiled over between Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton
DAYTON, OH – SmackDown sizzled in the wake of WWE Payback, featuring World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio against Chris Jericho, a tough-as-nails Intercontinental Championship Rematch and a personal showdown for respect between The Viper and WWE’s submission specialist.

Still frustrated that his match against Randy Orton was stopped on Raw, Daniel Bryan expressed his belief that the WWE officials responsible did so not because of injury, but because they felt he was the “weak link.” Still, he placed the greatest blame on Orton himself, believing that WWE’s Apex Predator had pitied him like a “little dog.”

Exclusive: Bryan discusses his match being stopped | Exclusive: Triple H's side of story

The Viper emerged to make it clear that their match had been stopped because people were worried about Bryan’s safety. He explained that he hadn’t pitied the submission specialist, but respected him for how hard he fought.

When Bryan made it clear that he would shove the “respect” that the nine-time World Champion claimed to have for him down his throat in their SmackDown main event match, the fed-up Orton said he would hurt his opponent so bad that he would have to be carried out.

Daniel Bryan def. Randy Orton

Obsessed with showing he was not a “weak link,” Daniel Bryan set out to definitively conquer Randy Orton in a feverous rematch from Raw. For his part, The Viper was fed up with his opponent's fixation and was out to hurt his bearded prey. A highly personal main event conflict ensued between two of the most dangerous Superstars in WWE as Orton and Bryan left it all on the canvas.

Photos of explosive SmackDown main event

After the battle had expanded through the ropes, Bryan was able to jump back into the ring before the referee reached the 10-count, while Orton could not do the same – resulting in a count-out victory for the “goat-faced” warrior.

Rather than being satisfied with his victory, though, Bryan was left absolutely outraged as SmackDown went off the air, begging the referee to restart the match.

Randy Orton def. Daniel Bryan

Photos

Randy Orton didn't mince words when he called Daniel Bryan the weak link on the WWE App, but he very nearly eat them when the submission master left The Viper summarily de-fanged in a match the WWE Universe named as a No Disqualification Match on the WWE App. Despite the uncertain future of Team Hell No, Bryan seemed anything but distracted in his solo bout, employing amateur-style takedowns as well as his signature submission holds in the early goings of the vicious contest.

When Orton reclaimed momentum, The WWE Universe showered him with roars of “NO!” with each of his own strikes to Bryan’s torso. Orton responded about as well as one would expect, raking Bryan’s eyes and going to town on his foe with a Singapore cane. Bryan rallied, but a mistimed suicide dive sent him crashing into the barricade and gave Orton the advantage. The submission expert refused to relent, but the ringside doctors ultimately called the bout due to possible nerve damage in Bryan's arm, giving Orton the victory. The Viper seemed to acknowledge Bryan’s heart in victory, though, embracing his foe following the bell.

The good sportsmanship did nothing to stem Bryan's frustration, however, as he was later spotted reportedly screaming in the face of WWE COO Triple H for ordering the stoppage of his match.

WWE Payback Results 2013

WWE Tag Team Champions Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins def. Randy Orton & Daniel Bryan

See photos of the intense tag action

CHICAGO — As it turns out, the sudden and brilliant chemistry between Randy Orton & Daniel Bryan was, in fact, too good to be true.

Mere days after teaming with Kane to deal The Shield its first submission loss in six-man competition, the potent, albeit makeshift, combination of former World Champions appeared poised to unseat well-oiled WWE Tag Team Champions, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns, at WWE Payback.

Then, fate kicked in, and the “Hounds of Justice” exploited the circumstance when they saw an opportunity to pounce. In a scene that neither Orton nor Bryan will likely forget anytime soon, a rapid-fire exchange among all four competitors led to match-ending miscommunication, resulting in the referee raising the hands of still-WWE Tag Team Champions, The Shield.

Despite a recent history defined by distrust and punctuated by an RKO that Orton delivered to Bryan a little more than a week ago, the challengers showed cohesion in the early goings. They were also the clear favorites of the WWE Universe, as evident by the way the Allstate Arena erupted with chants of “Yes!” each time Bryan laid a kick into Reigns during the bout’s opening minutes.

The bearded wonder’s flurry didn’t last long, as the bruising power of Reigns — in addition to the textbook, speedy tags between the black-garbed bullies — took over, ostensibly isolating Bryan. Worn down though he was, the persistent Bryan forged ahead and eventually tagged in his partner, who dropped both opponents with draping DDTs and even turned a flying attack by Rollins off the top rope into an organ-quaking powerslam before being caught by a Reigns Superman punch.

But Orton is nothing if not resourceful. After avoiding contact with both members of The Shield in the corner, WWE’s Apex Predator slyly threw Rollins overhead with a T-Bone Suplex into Reigns. The crumpled-up competition was then treated to a series of breathtaking dropkicks from the artful Bryan, whose return to the match thrilled the WWE Universe. Galvanized by the vocal Chicagoans, Bryan then launched himself through the ropes with a suicide dive. Unfortunately for Bryan, Rollins and Reigns shoved each other out of the way and Bryan ended up slamming into his teammate.

Team Hell No and Randy Orton looked to be in shambles at the start of SmackDown
GREENSBORO, N.C. – With both the United States and WWE Tag Team Titles on the line in two days at WWE Payback, “The Hounds of Justice” were handed their first clean defeat, while Chris Jericho & Alberto Del Rio battled World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston and Divas Champion Kaitlyn made a costly mistake.

Daniel Bryan opened SmackDown, reflecting on the greatness of Team Hell No before calling his partner, Kane, to the ring to discuss their recent differences.

(Photos)

Things quickly turned awkward when it seemed like Bryan was attempting to “break up” with The Devil’s Favorite Demon. When Bryan made the mistake of stating that Kane might actually be the “weak link” of Team Hell No, the submission specialist nearly suffered a chokeslam. But Randy Orton interrupted, promising to RKO The Big Red Monster if he attacked his partner before their WWE Tag Team Title Match this Sunday. Orton’s threat only served to further fuel the fires between the three volatile Superstars.

As they continued to argue, The Shield appeared on the TitanTron, stating that their SmackDown main event showdown would end the same way it always does – with a “Hounds of Justice” victory over their bickering opposition.

Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan Vs. WWE Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns

WWE is nothing if not unpredictable, proven yet again by the surprising WWE Payback match made on the June 10 episode of Raw by Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero. With WWE Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns looking as dominant as ever, they will now head into the June 16 pay-per-view against an unexpected pair of foes — Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton.

It’s a bit of a curveball, temporarily separating Bryan from his Team Hell No partner, Kane, and reuniting the submission specialist and The Viper, with whom Bryan teamed on the June 7 SmackDown. As the WWE Universe is well aware, that particular team-up didn’t turn out too well for either headstrong Superstar.

After Bryan inadvertently nailed Orton with a dropkick in the corner, WWE’s Apex Predator paid back the accidental transgression in spades with a ring-shaking RKO to close out the show, leaving Bryan in a heap on the canvas.

Now, Bryan and Orton will have to find a way to coexist if they hope to have any chance of downing the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions, who have been on fire since claiming the titles from Team Hell No at Extreme Rules.

The former champions have had some tough times since that pay-per-view loss, as Bryan continues to obsess over being Team Hell No’s “weak link.” For his part, Kane doesn’t agree, and has shown support for his submission specialist of a tag team partner. We all know how stubborn Bryan can be, though, and once he’s got something in his head, it’s all but impossible to shake it out. A WWE Payback victory would go a long way in convincing the bearded wonder that he’s as good as everyone else seems to know he is.

However, The Shield has continually shown just how dangerous they are, and Rollins and Reigns are currently at the top of their game as a cohesive unit. This will mark the black-clad duo’s first title defense on a pay-per-view, but the young rogues are not at all intimidated by the bright lights of such an event, as they showed on The Grandest Stage of Them All, and then again at Extreme Rules. In fact, nothing seems to faze these guys, as they find strength in unity and rely on their numbers advantage to lay waste to everyone in their path.

Can Orton and Bryan coexist long enough to make a dent in The Shield’s collection of hoarded championship gold? Or will Rollins and Reigns once again make the WWE Universe believe in The Shield? Find out June 16, only on pay-per-view!

Randy Orton vs. WWE Tag Team Champion Roman Reigns went to a No Contest

With Daniel Bryan set to battle Seth Rollins following a WWE App vote, it fell to Randy Orton to square off against Rollins’ fellow Tag Team Champion, Roman Reigns, in singles action. And if the results of Raw’s bout were any indication, The Apex Predator is in for a tough test when he challenges for the Tag Titles at Payback this Sunday.

The Viper came out swinging against the imposing Reigns, grounding The Shield’s resident bruiser and putting an early hurting on Reigns. But a big right hand sent Orton spilling off the turnbuckle and gave Reigns room to work on the dazed former World Champion. Orton rallied and prepared to administer the RKO, but interference from Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan (who had both been at ringside) cut the contest short and ultimately left the WWE Universe with a No Contest verdict.

Randy Orton's Interview to Conn Jackson about 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded

Maxim.Com: Randy Orton Talks Stunts, Championships, and Legend-Killing

Your movie 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded is out now. Is it true you did all your own stunts?
Yes! Doing my own stunts was one of the coolest experiences of the film - as a kid, I wanted to be a stuntman. That always appealed to me. Now, fast-forward, I’m doing some of the most amazing stunts in my own movie! What guy doesn’t want to do 180s or burn-outs in a car?

How different is it from what you do for live WWE shows?
The big difference is that in WWE I get one take, whereas in the movie I could do as many takes as I needed for a given stunt.

We asked Diamond Dallas Page if he had a favorite current take on his Diamond Cutter, and he said your RKO. What do you think of his idea about you two having a match?
DDP is without question a legend, but let’s not forget I was called “The Legend Killer” earlier in my career…

Have you tried his DDP Yoga?
No, I haven’t yet, but I have heard great things - a lot of the guys in the locker room swear by it. I guess I will have to give it a try!

Who’s your favorite opponent you’ve ever wrestled with?
I have had so many great opponents in WWE, from Triple H, to Mick Foley, to John Cena, to The Undertaker, but I would say that my favorite opponent to compete against is Christian.

What's next for you?
Easy answer; WWE gold around my waist. The Apex Predator is on the hunt for the World Championship!

What was the last thing you had to apologize for?
I had to apologize once or twice to our director for getting on set late.

What’s your favorite curse word?
Hmm…I guess it would have to be the F-bomb.

What’s the worst hangover you’ve ever had?
I honestly do not remember; I’ve never been a big drinker. It’s safe to say it was a long while ago.

What was your first car?
My first car was a Dodge Minivan.

Do you have a scar that tells a story?
I have many scars that tell many stories. You could write a book!

Do you have a party trick?
When someone comes over to me and tells me their name I immediately spell it back to them. I am almost never right, but it breaks some of the tension!

What’s the biggest thing you’ve ever put in your mouth?
I tried to put an entire cheeseburger in my mouth all at once to make my daughter laugh. I failed, but she still laughed.

What’s the one thing to remember in a fist fight?
Keep your hands up!

Who was the last person to see you naked?
The last person to see me naked…can I get a drumroll or something? The last person to see me naked was me. I’m on the road, so I just recently got out of the shower…

Finish this sentence: If I ruled the world for a day, I would…
Close down Disney World for a day and take my daughter on all of the rides as many times as she wanted.

Consumed with taking down The Shield, Bryan got caught in The Viper's bite

LONG ISLAND, NY – Kane’s frustration with Daniel Bryan left The Big Red Monster’s partner in an unlikely alliance with Randy Orton against the dominating “Hounds of Justice,” while the Ryback Rampage continued and Curtis Axel overcame another former World Champion.
Welcoming The Viper and Team Hell No onto “Miz TV,” The Awesome One wasted no time getting to the bottom of the “issues” surrounding the trio’s six-man tag team loss on Raw against The Shield.

With Miz egging things on as usual, the situation quickly became heated due to Bryan’s inability to contain his obsession of being a“weak link.” Finally hearing enough, Kane stormed out of the ring in what Miz – perhaps prematurely – speculated was the “break-up of Team Hell No.”

Senior Advisor to the SmackDown General Manager, Theodore Long, then broke the tension, placing Bryan and Orton together in a showdown against WWE Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns in the SmackDown main event.

Randy Orton & Daniel Bryan def. The Shield’s Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins

With Kane unwilling to team with Daniel Bryan on SmackDown, WWE’s submission specialist was paired with Randy Orton to take on the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns of The Shield. Even before the struggle began, though, it was clear the two former World Champions were not in sync.

In the height of the action, Bryan, who was still desperate to prove to himself that he is not a "weak link," was on absolute fire, single-handedly taking the fight to The Shield for the third time in eight days. However, this time, his fast-paced fury would cost him big time, as he accidently kicked The Viper in the face.

Moments later, the main event contest would come to an abrupt end when United States Champion Dean Ambrose decided to interfere and bring about the disqualification. And though Bryan expelled “The Hounds of Justice,” a recovered Apex Predator took the “goat face” Superstar out with an RKO of retribution.

Whose Temper Will Erupt on 'MIZ TV'?

After Daniel Bryan’s near one-man show on Raw, Team Hell No journeys to SmackDown tonight as special guests on "Miz TV" along with Randy Orton. What will happen when The Viper confronts the contentious duo? WWE.com explores five essential reasons to watch SmackDown, tonight at 8/7 CT on Syfy!

After Daniel Bryan’s near one-man show Monday on Raw and on last week’s SmackDown, the submission specialist and his partner Kane journey to SmackDown tonight as special guests on “Miz TV.” Joined by Randy Orton — who was pushed into the bearded wonder during their tag match against The Shield on Monday, leading to Dean Ambrose planting Bryan for the pinfall — The Miz will, in effect, play host to three of WWE’s most notorious hotheads. Without a doubt, it will make for an interesting edition of the “most must-see talk show in WWE history.”

Can Bryan get over his newfound inferiority complex and his obsession with being the “weak link” of the duo? Or will Bryan once again focus his rage on a SmackDown match, getting Team Hell No back on track to dominating the competition as they did at their peak? Find out tonight at 8/7 CT, only on Syfy!

XFinity: Randy Orton on ’12 Rounds: Reloaded’ and WWE: ‘Payback’

Normally the voices Randy Orton hears are in his head. They talk to him, they understand. They tell him to punish his opponents with RKOs, punts to the head, and whatever he calls that awesome ropes-assisted DDT thing he does.

However, in his new movie “12 Rounds: Reloaded,” the voice Randy hears is over the phone. It tells him he has to complete a series of twelve dangerous tasks or something terrible will happen to the woman he loves.

I spoke with “The Viper” the afternoon of the release of his new movie and had a chance to ask about the learning curve that comes with your own starring vehicle, the match he’s looking forward to at Payback, and which WWE Superstar looks like Sloth from “The Goonies”…

Gordon Holmes: Randy Orton…third-generation star…the Viper…the youngest WWE champion ever…and now the baddest EMT of all time.
Randy Orton: (Laughs) It’s very exciting for me. It’s been a long couple of months here, the editing process takes forever. But, we’re finally here. It’s my first time doing anything like this. I’m anxious for what the WWE Universe and action fans in general are going to think.

Holmes: As a sports entertainer, you’re used to telling stories. But, they always say the best characters are you with the volume turned up. This time, you’re stepping into someone else’s shoes. You’re Nick, an ordinary EMT who’s thrown into an extraordinary situation. How different was this process for you?
Orton: There are a lot of similarities, there are also a lot of ways you can contrast. I’m used to being on camera. I’ve been on camera for 13 years now with the WWE. Live television is stressful, it’s tricky, you’ve got to hit your cues. The biggest difference is that level of stress is non-existent on a movie set. For me, it was a little nerve-wracking at first because I was new to that world. But, I felt at home real quick. The actors, everyone from make-up to wardrobe to the director, they were all great. And they knew that this was my first time doing this, so they were there to help.

Holmes: A lot of guys have been making the transition from the ring to the big screen. The Rock, John Cena, Ted DiBiase, The Miz…any of them offer any advice?
Orton: Yeah, I had my script, this was a couple of months before we started shooting, and there were questions I had. I talked to Cena because he’s done more movies than anyone I know. Some of the questions I had were to do with the script, and the sides, wanting to know what to expect. I thought I had to memorize the entire script. I didn’t know. I thought you had to be ready to do any scene at time. So Cena was able to point me in the right direction. They can shoot in any order. He warned me that they can shoot any scene at any time, so you have to remember your state of mind. You could shoot one scene, but the scene that follows it you won’t shoot for another couple of weeks. You have to remember what your motivation is, what your tone is. That continuity really matters.

Holmes: The Randy Orton we get to see on TV, he’s a bit of cold-blooded killer. He doesn’t joke around like a Cena or a Sheamus. But, Nick gets to tell a few jokes, he gets to say a few four-letter words. Was it nice to get to explore that space a little?
Orton: Yeah, I’m one of the guys in the locker room that misses the times when we used to be a little more risqué. So, making a rated-R movie was (Laughs) definitely something that appealed to me. There’s nudity, there’s a little bit of everything. Not to mention violence and profanity. It’s rated R, so that’s what you get.

Holmes: I was going over your bio before this and it blew my mind that you’ve been a major part of the WWE roster for over ten years now.
Orton: Yeah.
Holmes: You can’t wrestle forever. Is acting something you could see yourself transitioning into or are you WWE for life?
Orton: I wouldn’t say I’m WWE for life, I’d say my near future will consist of me primarily being in the ring. Wrestling is my first love. The movie was fun, but the schedule was grueling because I had to fly off on my off days to film. Eight weeks went by and I had three days off. If I do the movie thing, I’ll be sure that I’m only doing the movie so I can concentrate on it. (Laughs) I think I’d be more sane that way.

Holmes: Do you know what you’ll be doing for the next Pay Per View, Payback?
Orton: Well, I don’t know what I’ll be doing, but I can guarantee that I’ll be a part of it.
Holmes: I’d hope so, your face is all over the literature.
Orton: (Laughs) One thing’s for sure, it’s in Chicago and that Allstate Arena is one of the best places to have a fight in. That crowd is awesome. CM Punk being a Chicago native, he’s going against (Chris) Jericho. That should be interesting. That’s a rematch from a few Wrestlemanias ago. They had a good one then. So, that should probably be the marque match. But Payback will definitely be a good production you won’t want to miss.

Holmes: How’re you feeling about Cena vs. Ryback in the Three Stages of Hell match?
Orton: I’m impressed with Ryback, that’s for sure. Skip Sheffield of the days of old, he’s come a long way. It’s a cool story, there was a point a couple of years ago, he’d had such a bad injury that doctors told him he wouldn’t be able to wrestle again. Now he’s jacked and looks like Sloth from the “Goonies.”
Holmes: Great, now I won’t be able to unsee that. Thanks.
Orton: (Laughs) No problem.
